Sweet Protection Strayer 2Vi® Mips MTB Helmet Is A Well Vented Lightweight Full Face You Can Pedal In Without Feeling Like You Are Suffocating.
I tend to ride less rowdy trails than I used to and at a bit slower pace for a couple reasons. One, I am mostly riding solo these days due to lack of time, so when I get a quick window of time I can go ride I just grab my gear bag and my bike and head out the door. I rarely have time to try and coordinate with a bunch of friends to see who can go and when. And second, I just don't feel the need for speed like I used to. Maybe my brain has switched over to preservation mode so I can ride bikes and snowboard until I'm really old? Or maybe my testosterone has just gotten super low? Whatever the reason, it means I am usually grabbing my half shell for most trail rides these days. However, with more full face helmets like the Sweet Protection 2Vi® Mips popping up I think I will be wearing a full face more often than I have been recently. One of the first full faces made for pedaling up and down was the Giro Switchblade. The thought of being able to remove the chin bar for climbing and putting it back on for the downs seemed pretty rad in theory. However, I felt that is was honestly just kind of a pain. It also felt heavy and bulky. So I just ended up never wearing it much at all. This helmet is a totally different story.

How Does It Ride?
I have put in some decent miles now in the Strayer 2Vi® Mips MTB helmet and I have to say, I really like this thing. The biggest things I noticed right out of the gate were how light it is and how well it is vented. I have ridden on a couple days with temps in the low 90's and ya, I am still sweating like crazy, but I would be sweating in my half shell too. But there are plenty of functional vents that you can feel the air moving through keeping things as cool as possible. It's super light too at 720g which is only about 300g heavier than my half shell. I've suffered some big hot sweaty climbs in this thing and I have never felt the need to rip it off and hang it from my handlebars for the rest of the climb like I have in other full face helmets. I like the function of the fidlock chinstrap. It's super easy and intuitive to use and can easily be done one handed. I have been riding it mainly with the Sweet Protection Durden MTB goggles and they fit really well with this helmet. Those goggles are some of the most breathable MTB goggles I have ridden. Paired up with the Strayer helmet they make an awesome combo for riding enduro or just trails where you'll want a bit more protection but still have to pedal. Riding in the Strayer has helped me feel more confident while still not feeling completely suffocated. Fit is near perfect on this lid. I measure right at about 59 cm around the biggest part of my skull and I have been wearing the L/XL size. With a couple turns of the Occigrip Fit system dial and this helmet is about as comfortable as it gets. It comes with two set of cheekpads and I have been running it with the thicker set. In the roughest of terrain, I never felt the Strayer 2Vi wobbling or moving around at all. The visor moves up and out of the way so you can put your goggles up when pedaling longer uphills. I will still be reaching for my half shell for most rides, however if I plan on riding an e-bike or doing more technical enduro style trails I would happily grab the Strayer knowing I am getting added protection while not experiencing a whole lot of downsides. It's light, comfortable, well vented, and fits just about perfect.

Who Is It For?
The Strayer 2Vi® Mips MTB Helmet would be perfect for someone who is riding steeper, gnarlier enduro style trails, but you still have to earn the uphill or somebody that is e-biking and just wants a bit of the extra protection you get from a full face.
