Review: PNW Range High Rise Handlebars

The PNW Range High Rise Handlebars Go Big With 75mm Of Rise.

High rise bars are so hot right now! And PNW Components isn't going to be caught sleeping on this trend. They are't messing around with 40 or 50mm of rise either. They took it it to 11 with 75mm of rise on their new PNW Range High Rise Handlebars! Turns out they are pretty popular too because they are currently sold out. But you can put your email down and get notified when they come back in stock.

How Do They Ride?

I've had these bars on my bike for a few weeks now, and I am really loving them so far! The only place I am finding fault with the Range High Rise bars are on steep technical climbs where I need a bit more weight on the front end of the bike. I am having to adjust for that and shift a bit more over the front to help keep the front end down but other than that they have been great!

On mellower terrain, going both up and down I haven't noticed much difference in my riding. They do offer a more comfortable seated climbing position, especially with my longer torso. My back is thanking me for the more upright position for sure. But where I am seeing the biggest benefit from these bars is on steeper descents. I feel so much more confident heading down steeper terrain with these things. They change up the angle of attack and instead of feeling like I want to go over the front of the bike I feel like I can stay in that more centered neutral position keeping goo traction on the front tire without getting too far forward and instead of having to adjust and fight to keep my weight back it just happens naturally because of where the higher rise bars put me.

The higher rise will shorten your reach a bit but that can be easily compensated for by rolling the bars forward just a bit. I haven't rolled mine forward much at all though and I feel really good with this setup.

I have noticed less fatigue in my hands and wrists as well as my back with the high rise bars as well.

Who Are They For?

If you are on an all-mountain, enduro or downhill bike I would get these for sure. If a good amount of your riding involves sustained steep, technical, downhill trails, then these bars will be rad! Or if you just have wrecked hands, wrists and back and just want to sit more upright for general riding these will work out too.
