Eastern Outer is a small family owned and operated brand located in Heber, Ut. They are all about getting outside and having a good time. They spent over 15 years in the eyewear industry and they are taking that experience to bring a high quality product to you at a cost that is much more friendly on your wallet than other big name brands out there. They were kind enough to send me a pair of the Eastern Outer Mojave Photochromic glasses in Matte Black to test and these glasses have been amazing. Especially given they are only $50!
The fit and quality is right on par with the bigger name brands that you would expect to pay over $200 for. In fact I would say these have been more comfortable than any pair of those glasses that I have owned or currently owned. They tend to stay on my face and don't bounce around as much as any of my other glasses as well. The top of the glasses do hit the brim of my helmet just a bit, but so do my other glasses. This has a lot to do with my POC helmet though. The brim comes down pretty low on this thing.
The glasses have not fogged up during heavy peddling to the top of the longest hills which is a plus for me because I am a big sweater and can fog up a pair of glasses faster than anyone. This is the first photochromic lens I have tried and I love how clear they get on early morning or late eveing rides, when it's cloudy, darker out or riding through thick forest. However in super bright sunny conditions I do wish they got a bit darker. I still feel a bit squinty out there in the bright mid-day sun. Overall, I would put these shades up against any other expensive pair of glasses. The quality and finish is right on par and for only $50 you will have enough money leftover for a helmet, or bike parts or groceries for the week.
