OneUp Clip Pedals (clipless if you're old) Are An Outstanding Trail And All Mountain Pedal
It's been a while since I've clipped in. I used to ride only clipless or I guess some are calling it clips now, which actually makes more sense anyway since you are indeed clipping into the pedal. Anyway, whatever you want to call them I rode clipless during the late 90's until around 2016. I only stopped riding clipless because I had a pair of Crank Brothers Mallets that wouldn't let me release whichever foot was down because my foot would hit the crank arm before releasing. I tried running the longer axles and moving my cleats out as far as they could go but to no avail. So I put a pair of flats on and got some Five Tens and that worked really well for me at the time because I was riding with my young kids a lot. I ended up really liking flats and improved on some bike stills because of it too. So up until a few weeks ago I have been pretty much on flats since 2016.

After getting the cleats set up where I like them and got out for a ride, I quickly remembered how much I liked riding clipped in! I feel like I have more control climbing, especially rocky more technical stuff and way more confidence riding downhill through chunky and blown out sections of trail. I did notice I felt a bit more timid getting air though. Probably a mental thing though.

I really like the amount of float these have and the release angle is right about where I like it. OneUp says these have 5° of float and a 12° release angle. These have a lot of adjustability in how the level of effort it takes to disconnect your foot from the pedal. They also have an easy to read indicator to see where your tension is set which makes it easy to make sure each pedal has the same amount of tension.

Riding Impressions
The OneUp Clip Pedals have ben flawless so far. Getting clipped in is easy and intuitive and I've slowly been dialing up the tension each ride as I am getting used to riding clipped in again. The shape and super thin profile makes pedal strikes pretty much non existent. I am like the size of the outer platform and I feel like my foot is actually supported by the platform where other clip pedals with a platform feels like the platform is there more for looks. I am enjoying the control on both ups and downs being clipped in. I feel like these pedals could work in a lot of different riding disciplines too. I would ride these on a gravel bike, do an xc race, and enduro, and all around trail riding.
