Smith Method Helmet - Round Contour Fit

Smith Method Helmet

I just picked up a new snowboarding helmet. I started wearing a helmet a while back and then when one of my kids grew too fast I ended up giving my helmet to them and I got back in the habit of just wearing a beanie. A couple weeks back my youngest kid and nephew were calling me out for not wearing a helmet so here we are. I knew that Smith helmets fit my head pretty good in the past so I looked up the Method. I wanted something with some skate style/influence as far as looks and I didn't really want to pay for MIPS or anything and the Smith Method Helmet (Round Contour Fit) looked like it would fit the bill.

Black ski helmet with strap, side view. Matte finish, small blue logo on the side. Simple background, focus on sleek design.

Black helmet back view with blue vents, branded "SMITH" and "Koroyd." Features green "Method K" logo, sleek design, sporty feel.

Out of the box the helmet fit near perfect. It felt like it might be a touch tight right in the middle of my forehead, however even with a balaclava underneath it I haven't noticed any pressure or anything at all. For reference my head circumference measures just over 59 cm. I went with the size L which Smith says fits from 59-63 cm on their sizing chart.

I have worn a couple different brands of goggles including Drop, 686, Dang and Anon with this helmet and all work really well and have a nice seamless non gaper fit.

Venting on the Smith Method is minimal, but the vents are very effective and I have not had my goggles fog up nor have I felt like I was overeating at any time and my nickname at one point was furnace boy. Typically at the end of a few hours of riding, when I take off my helmet there is steam coming off my head and taking off my boots there is always a heavy amount of steam escaping from my boots.

There is not a dial for fit adjustment with this model of the Method however I have not noticed any drawback without it. In fact I think it might attribute to its comfort. There is a piece that stretches to accommodate for size and it works perfectly. This is honestly one of the more comfortable helmets I have worn to date.
