Review: Knog Blinder Lights

Checking Out The Knog Blinder Lights In 700, 1000 And 1400 Lumens.

If you haven't heard of Knog before they are basically all about helping people see and be seen while riding your bike, hiking, running or camping. What stands out to me most about Knog products is the simplicity of use and sleek, cool product aesthetics. These three lights are the first products I've ever used from Knog and after testing these commuter, road and gravel lights, I am super eager to get my hands on a couple of their MTB lights.

The Knog Blinder 700

The Knog Blinder 700 is designed for commuting. It's bright, long lasting and reliable. It's also packed with features to keep you seen and safe when riding your bike. Whether you are heading to and from work, grabbing some stuff at the local market or heading out to the pub, the Blinder 700 is going to work great! All 3 of these lights include two mounting options so you can mount it on top or under your handlebars or on a helmet. Both mounting options are super intuitive and easy to use. There are 6 different light modes available by pressing the smart power button right on top of the light. An LED ring around Blinder’s soft-touch silicone button gives instant visibility of remaining battery life and charging status. A quick press when the light is off displays charge level: green indicates 100–50%, yellow 50–25%, and red below 25%. While charging, the LED flashes yellow and turns solid green once fully charged.

Table titled "Light Modes" with columns: Mode, Lumens, Runtime. Modes include High Steady (650 lm/2 hr) and Eco Flash (90 lm/120 hr).

The Blinder 700 is powered by a high-capacity 18650 3.7V lithium-ion battery. Advanced cell technology delivers an exceptional power-to-weight ratio with longer runtimes.

An innovative optical layout of wide and narrow beam lenses deliver high-quality illumination out to 80m; focused exactly where you want it at the optimum angle of 22 degrees. The way light is projected is super critical when riding bikes and the Blinders all do a great job of getting light in all the right places and distances.

The Knog Blinder 1000

The Blinder 1000 is the bike light of choice for road biking. As the name suggests this light gets 1000 lumens and has a powerful focused beam to give you confidence at speed on the pavement. There is a noticeable difference in the 300 lumens and the way the beam is projected onto the roadway. The Blinder 1000 also gives you 6 different light modes. Battery time will vary between modes which can be seen in the chart below. The power button and functionality is the same between each of the Blinders so if you are navigating between using the different lights on multiple bikes the experience is the same which is nice.

The Knog Blinder 1400

The Knog Blinder 1400 bumps up to 1400 lumens and is Designed for all-road and gravel riders, the next generation Blinder 1400 front bike light is engineered for power & performance on and off the tarmac. The additional LEDs on this top-of-the-range light are paired with precision beam optics to help you see more on the trails. The 1400 is pretty bright and while designed around gravel riding it could actually be used for mountain biking on single track as well. I feel like this would be a good option mounted on your helmet with maybe one of their MTB specific lights on the bars.
